Catching Up

Since I left you last, I spent a weekend in Atlanta for a baby shower and spent a weekend in East Tennessee with family. I went home 2 weeks ago for one of my oldest friend's baby shower. Erin and Scott got married almost three years ago, but it still kind of blows my mind that she is having a baby! The shower was on Friday night so I had to race to Atlanta after work. My mom and I went and it was so fun seeing all of the cute gifts she got. She is having a baby boy, Grayson Scott, in October sometime.

This past weekend, was a family weekend. My cousin, Ethan, had two soccer games in the Knoxville area. I went to his game on Friday night and was able to see him play and visit with my Aunt Frances' family. My mom and Whitney got to Knoxville late Friday night so we didn't do anything once they got here. I was already asleep and Whit had been sleeping in the car. (Of course!) On Saturday morning, we met my everyone at Cracker Barrel for brunch. After eating, my mom dropped me, Whitney and our cousin Bethany off on campus. Bethany has been a UT fan her whole life and this was her first football game. We stopped by a few different tailgates to visit some people, shopped at the bookstore, did the Vol Walk and got to the stadium in plenty of time for her to take in the whole pregame. Although the second half of the game was pretty very painful, it was fun to spend time with family!

Cousins Tailgating
After the game, the Burton girls headed to Kingsport. We ate lunch with my Aunt Lana and Uncle Randy and all of their precious grandkids! It is so much fun spending time with the little cousins. (They are 3 girls that are 5, 6, and 7 and one 10 year old boy.) After lunch we headed to my Aunt E's 90th birthday party. My Aunt E isn't really my aunt, but has always been a part of my life. She was my grandmother's best friend. It was so good to see her, but it was also really hard because it brought back so many memories of my grandmother. I wonder what she would have been like on her 90th birthday! I miss her so much!

All in all, the past couple weekends were really good. (Except for that football game on Saturday night!) I'm heading to Kansas this weekend for my friend Chris' wedding. I can't wait to see him and Trey and celebrate!

Long Weekend

Last weekend was SO needed! It involved a lot of football and family time. I headed home after work on Thursday. I made it in time to have dinner with my mom and sister. After dinner, we did a little bit of late night shopping at Target. (One of our favorite past times!) When we got home from dinner, we had a birthday party to celebrate Daisy's 2nd birthday! Complete with a cake and birthday hat that she didn't wear!

I slept in on Friday and then my mom and I did a little bit of errand running and shopping. Whit was looking for a specific shirt from Ann Taylor Loft so my mom and I went to 4 different Lofts and found the shirt! We also found quite a few other things along the way. Whitney and I went to the Tennessee/NC State game on Friday night. It was so much fun - we scored 2 touchdowns and a safety in the first quarter! I really hope that game was a hint at what the rest of the season is going to be like. Football season is so much more fun and enjoyable when your team is winning!

After a late night Friday night, Whit and I had to be up early because there was a noon kick-off in Athens we had to make.  It was a really hot day in Georgia! Because it was so hot out and Georgia was playing Buffalo, we planned on leaving at halftime. Well, the game was a little too close for comfort at halftime so we decided to stay. At the beginning of the 3rd quarter, my body decided I had enough football for the day, and I passed out. Thankfully, I was sitting down and I was with Neal and Whitney. After drinking some water and cooling down in the first aid room, I was good to go and began the trek to find Neal and the car somewhere in downtown Athens. I just wanted to add a little excitement to the day!

On Sunday, we slept in and then ran a few errands before going back to Athens to have dinner for Neal's birthday. I cannot believe that he turned 35! We made it to Athens and did a little bit of shopping downtown and then had dinner at Shokitini. I really did not want to come back to Knoxville on Monday and considered not leaving until Tuesday morning. After realizing that I am on campus on Tuesdays until 8:30pm, I decided against having to leave Atlanta by 5am!

I had such a nice, relaxing weekend and saw 2 (well maybe 1 and a half) football wins! I'm headed home tomorrow for a baby shower and maybe a little bit of Georgia Tech football!

Happy Birthday, Dais!

Go Big Orange!
